The overall aim of research in this division is the introduction of new therapeutic approaches to human disease.

The division provides a base for medical researchers with applied laboratory interests to undertake fundamental research directed towards therapeutic advances; animal-based research in which new treatments are first tested; and new advances into human-based research are taken to the clinic.

The development of gene therapy, cell therapy, or tissue therapy and other experimental techniques is promoted within this division.
